Do these HD Tune 2.55 Benchies seem low to you?

I just switched from a single Seagate 7200.11 500gb drive to a pair of WD 500gb Black drives configured in a Raid 0 w/ 128k stripe size. Using my onboard raid controller found on my Asus Maximus Formula mother board.

HD Tune: Intel Raid 0 Volume Benchmark

Transfer Rate Minimum : 83.9 MB/sec
Transfer Rate Maximum : 179.0 MB/sec
Transfer Rate Average : 144.3 MB/sec
Access Time : 12.6 ms
Burst Rate : 141.4 MB/sec (Goes up to 2500ish w/ write back cache enabled)
CPU Usage : -1.0%

These scores seem very low to me when I look at other raid benchmarks with the same or similar hard drives.

What do you folks think? I have ran the test a couple dozen times and these numbers represent the average of what I have been seeing.

Well I can't comment as I am learning about setting up Raid 0, vs SSD, vs single high RPM drives myself. However, I can comment on just some basic results of my own off a similar drive.

A single WD Caviar Black, 1TB drive , in this computer that has 600+GB in use.. is turning these numbers:

Min = 84MB/s
Max = 106MB/s
Burst = 145.6MB/s
Avg Access = 12.9 (This is the big factor to be concerned about for everyday use in my opinion) -- And it is very close to your result. This is a single drive *not* in a raid setup.

Just out of common sense I would think your numbers don't look low, but high (in latency anyways). I would have thought your latency would be considerably lower. Though I am still searching to figure out what a single drive vs 2x same drive in Raid0 usually does for avg latency figures.

Good luck,
