Just saw it as well. Personally I haven't experienced that yet but it does sound nasty. If it was traced to one of Microsoft update, they could receive a nasty backlash from people who had to repair or reformat their PC.

OTOH is it was a virus causing problem, those people should be flogged for not keeping their security up to date.

It sounds like the company that released that report was just doing it for publicity/made an honest mistake. They issued an apology to MS.
