What music do people here listen to?

I'm guessing this question is suitable in this board.

My taste is pretty strange compared to most people I know.

Little birdy
Missy Higgins
Uriah Heep
Pendulum
Metallica
Iron Maiden

I'm pretty good in every situation =P Been to some amazing metal gigs, some epic raves and been with good mate to small (<200 people) mild mannered gigs with Little birdy =)

So, what's other peoples views on music? Also apart from my friend Josh (guy I went to see litttle birdy with) I've yet to find someone else who likes Little birdy or Missy Higgins... Is the next person you?

I'm extremely eclectic (which I suppose makes me unusual). Just a smattering of my favorites:

Thelonious Monk (Jazz)
Chopin (Classical)
Dead Kennedys (Punk)
Mos Def (Hip-hop)
Radiohead (Contemporary Rock)
Chemical Brothers (Techno)
Control Machete (Mexican Hip Hop)
Led Zeppelin (Classic rock)
Tom Waits (Singer/Songwriter)
Bela Fleck (Jam)
Iron Maiden (Metal) <- We have one in common

Pretty much the only genres I don't listen to are R&B and Country.

Anything from Luke the drifter to Luke Bryan. I pretty much listen to anything country old school and the new stuff they still call country.

I wish I could play jazz. I'm classically trained myself- my head turns to mush when I don't have notes in front of me.

I know what you mean. I'm a double bass player and my rythem has always been pretty good. I started with orchestral and then when I was 17 I played jazz simply because a certain girl who I was crushing over asked me to. I practised for hours to get the bass line right =P But my new girlfriend is much better! (Is she standing behind me?)

After you get into it everything seems so...simple. Improvising is probably the only real hard part to master but playing through the jazz scales again and again really helps with that. Also watching the masters at work helps a lot. Just get out and do it would be my suggestion =) What instrument do you play?

Seems like pretty square music to me (symbols are squares, no support for said characters)

I love some Japanese pop but I've found Chinese and Korean music is basically just a copy of American music with different lyrics. Just my opinion =P so don't bash me for it =)

Jazz piano is pretty tricky at first but learn the chords and you'll be away =)

I am open to anything the band or person can keep time. I simply LOVE music in all forms. Some tunes I like others than some.

Yes a little backwards in how I worded it. Though, music is not all that straight forward in how it can be taken, Since about every 20 years. Music makes a transformation unto itself. From 1891 to 1991, there has been some miraculous changes in style and composition. If your interested. 'About 20 years' is the golden spot for music.

I would take a guess. We are up for another spot in music right soon. The 90's was a good time for music. Then a dull keep up the same sound.. Which could be argued the 80's Pop sound led to that.

I been playing instruments for 'decades.'. So I am easy to bore.

Let's see....

Dimmu Borgir
Devian
Marduk
Mayhem
Carcass
Hypocrisy
Immortal
Dark Funeral
Sear Bliss
Behemoth
Lamb Of God
Kataklysm
Slayer

There are too many to list. Most of it is black metal, but I do get in the mood for some older punk every now and then.

Lots of electronic stuff, some jazz, some classical, some blues, some rock, some metal.

I try to keep things fresh.
