Question Unlocked my x3 720!

I've got a question....will me having my 720 unlocked be detrimental for performance? Keep in mind, I'm talking games, and FPS....but will it slow it down because CPU-Z is telling me that I've got a PII X4 940 in an AM2+ socket. I've not noticed anything funny while playing games....but.......

It should do nothing but improve your performance, if the 4th core is stable!

There has been no study that I have read yet that states the CPU will decrease in performance due to the unlocking of a Core. If I would to look at this at a normal OC, yes it would for some time decrease the performances of the ONE core. If you were to look at it like a normal CPU than no it would not decrease in performance. A combination of the both than it would be like dividing by zero.

I've got the same processor with the 4th core unlocked @ 3.42 ghz (1.35v) stable. Im not sure but I think most games now days will utilize 4 cores, also when using direct x11. Increase for sure 4>3

Did you overclock your 720 with the 4th open? I'm thinkin about bumpin up to 3.6-3.7.

game stable does not equal stable. i'd prime95 that **** or occt. super pi. something...

cool to hear of an unlock, would really liked to hear it is stress tested stable.

I ran prime95 for 24 hours so i'm pretty sure its stable. I was just refering to gaming performance with 3 cores vs 4 cores. I also had the 720 @ 3.62 X4 and passed testing for 6 hours using prime. I will later test it again for 12+ with same settings.
