Jury summon sent to a... cat????

How can a mixup happen that ends up with a cat getting jury summon? Not only that but the initial request to drop the summon was denied. I wonder how would the judge handle this if the cat is bought in? Assuming the cat isn't evicted for being a pet in a no-pet area.

Since this news aired on TV and is all over the web sites, I can imagine Boston government are red faced for

still... how would a name from the pet section end up with a jury summon? I still say the government somehow bungled this.

They probably thought it was a stupid excuse and denied it, not knowing it really IS a cat

This got to me wondering, if one cat ended up with jury summon, I wonder how many other pets are on the list for future jury summons? It would be a riot if a replacement jury to replace the cat is a dog...

It's about time pets pulled their weight in society. Far too long have they rode on the coat tails of humans.
