A Q6600 @ 3.37 should be completing an a2 WU in about 8 hours (7.862)

Project ID: 2671
Core: GROCVS
Credit: 1920
Frames: 100

Name: CR L 1 (q6600 @ 3.2, native Ubuntu 9.10)
Path: \\Cr-l1\fah\
Number of Frames Observed: 300

Min. Time / Frame : 00:04:39 - 5,946 PPD
Avg. Time / Frame : 00:04:49 - 5,740 PPD

As stated earlier, the number of steps has no bearing on the number of points. On this forum, you will see production stats given in terms of Time per Frame (TPF), where 1 frame is 1% of the WU, and Points per Day. Production is all about Points per day as opposed to points per WU. Some of the largest valued WUs are the slowest to produce.

You can find information on each WU along with its value here:
http://fah-web.stanford.edu/psummary.html

You can monitor WU progress locally or over a network with HFM, found here:
http://code.google.com/p/hfm-net/
HFM provides a wealth of information regarding the WUs and production statistics.
