intel Q8400 maximum overclock

Ok so it may not be the maximum possible,but its the best I can get stable with reasonable voltages on air.
The settings may be of intrest to C2Q owners.

I recently upgraded to Q8400($50 cost after selling my Q8200) , a bit faster and has Vm, + having a 4.0Ghz quad sounds better
nb the 3000 hrs is obviously using the Q8200.
Settings are for Gigabyte EP45-UD3 board

Intel Core 2 Quad settings for 1960-2000 mhz fsb
24/7 stable (3000 hrs+)

Q8400 and Q8200
4.0 or 3.5 Ghz(2000 fsb)

These settings may or may not work with Q9450,Q9550,Q9650 cpu's,(higher power draw).
but they should be ok with lower Q9000 cpus.
Yes I know memory type makes a difference,and that some people are gonna say theyre running 1920 fsb and below with like 1.3V cpu core and 1.3vMCH.
Well gl to ya,these are settings I use for 1960-2000 .
The settings are actually what I need for 1980 and 2020 fsb ,and no i didnt just bang in a bit more v's for cpu mch and ram,there was testing for each setting :shock:

Cool.. thanks for the post. You may want to put that in the {code}{/code} box except with [] to make it smaller...

Also, while cookie cutter settings are great, it may not work with the same setup as everyone is differnt. Definately good to have though for a starting point!!! :thup:
 
I know my e8400 wasnt using a stock cooler to reach 4ghz. :)

Which one, i dont recall offhand.

Are you looking for a cooler for e8400? Need help overclocking it? Start up a thread so you can get more focused help. :)

You know I have been pondering an inclusive LGA 775 guide/thread for a few weeks now. Been playing with an Abit IP35-E and Rampage Formula and crap ton of C2D's/Celly's. Too hot right now must wait till evening (my little windows unit is struggling in the 90+F and 70%+ dew point).

Take that with a grain of salt though you all know I'm a flake.:-/

Let's see, 8 years ago? I was running an Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 on an Abit AW9D with 2X1GB Mushkin Xtreme Performance DDR2-800 RAM. I ran that Conroe at 3.0 gig 24/7 and was able to hit 3.6 long enough to get a screenshot.
 
I still miss Abit..I did have a couple of their AMD boards, and they were good, until they died :D I was never able to source an Intel one locally. I do have a Rampage Formula DDR2 board, and with a cpu like an e8600 it kix axe. But I have a x3360 for it, and it will do 475 fsb or so with it. I got to 600 with my e8600, but my ram wasn't willing to go past 600mhz, so who knows where it would top out. I do know it will run 550fsb 1:1 24/7 like it was a was nothing..
