XtremeGamer and SPDIF OUT to GTX285

I have an XtremeGamer and an eVGA GTX 285.

I got the cable for the GPU to connect the SPDIF and GND line to my sound card, however the only thing I see on my sound card is an 8-pin connection labeled "SPDIF_IO"

I can't figure out if the SPDIF IO is for some kind of Creative Terminal because I've ruled out the FRONT PANEL and AUX_IN ports.

However there is a two-pin port with no label and I've not been able to figure out how to use it.

I want to run HDMI from my GTX285 to my Panasonic and then use the Optical Out from the Panasonic to my Kenwood Receiver (This seems to work just fine on my Xbox360)

Any ideas?

Open Creative console launcher, click the 'Settings' button, the first tab in this menu is 'FlexiJack' and turn FlexiJack Mode to 'Digital I/O'.

Now make sure that you are using SPDIF Out from the settings in Windows.

The physical port on the back of your card will say 'Digital IO'.

If that doesn't help, you'll need to more accurately describe your setup, you threw about a whole bunch of terms there that don't seem to fit.

I'm running the 2-pin connector that came with my GTX285 from my video card to my XtremeGamer on the "SPDIF" pins and I managed to locate the GND and SPDIF pin.

I now have audio coming from the GTX 285 via HDMI to my HDTV, and then from my HDTV's Optical Out to my Kenwood Receiver.

Problem is now its only doing Stereo - doesn't seem to want to do 5.1

I'm not using the "FlexiJack" Digital Out on the rear bracket, thats for my Mic

Is there an 'External Decoder option' for Dolby Digital 5.1?

Also consider using the FlexiJack for digital out, just to see if that works properly.

That second description helps. I've never seen the cable you described but I understand what is going on.

Yeah I'll have to dig my camera up.

Anyway I could use the Flexijack but I know for a fact that thing just does analog stereo to PC speakers - trying to get 5.1 Digital Optical to my Kenwood but I don't think this is going to work *sigh*

The FlexiJack will do non-optical digital out. I have it set up right now doing a digital bit stream for my Astro Gaming Mixamp. But that is over a SPDIF cable not HDMI.

Is your sound source dolby or dts encoded? Only dolby or dts can pass through the x-fi spdif with all channels as intended. All other multichannel sources will need to be encoded with dolby digital live or dts connect first in order to have multichannel out via spdif. Your only option if your source is not dolby or dts enoded already is to purchase the Creative DDL/DTS Connect Pack for $5.
