Today I managed to have 2 different capacitors smoke up my trustworthy asus/amd combo. I would normally get all bummed out, but I've heard some nice things about intels new chips.

I'm thinking i3-530 on an ASUS P7P55D-E LX

I've been out of the loop for some time now; anything I should be concerned about? Would I encounter any issues using my old pc2-6400 2x1 sticks until I could afford some ddr3?

I know I can count on some legit OCforum geeks. <3

The i3 530 is a good chip, it puts the hurt on the Phenom II x2. You're going to have to spring for some DDR3 sticks, the 1156 platform is based on DDR3 memory.
