Question Q9400, Q9505 or Q9550

Hello!
Ok, i need an Upgarade to play BF:BC2
My current CPU is a E7400 and my Board is an Intel DG43NB (so no overclock).
I need a budget quad to run BF:BC2, BF1943, BF3.
So i found the Q9400 in egg at 190$ and the Q9550 at 260$, ill prefer the cheap 1 (Q9400) but does it worth the extra money for the Q9550? will i get some more frames?
Q9400 6MB cache 2.66g 190$
Q9505 6MB cache 2.83g 240$
Q9550 12MB cache 2.83g 260$

Thnks for your advice guys!

Cheers!

What GPU do you have? Because without overclocking you might bottleneck your card anyway. Also, what resolution do you play? We'll need that info.

If I may suggest an alternative...replace your MB instead and OC your E7400. The Q9550 is only 2.83 ghz and although you will gain some through the additional cores it is less than you will get when OC your E7400. For strictly gaming I would stick with the E7400 until you can move up to an I5 or I7 quad system.

I disagree with hte above. BFBC2 uses all 4 cores (someone correct me if I am wrong). I would rather use a stock Q9550 than an overclocked Dual core in this game.

Yes, you right, is the reason for my upgrade, my e7400 cant handle the game, even some people whit e8400 OCd, have FPS problems.
But should a Q9400 be enough? or its worth the extra money for the Q9550?

Budget!

Cheers!

Do you have a Microcenter near you? They have the Q9550 for a lot less $, but it' s an in-store only price.

I would also recommend you to buy a quadcore. But if you won't overclock than 2,83GHz is a must. 2,6GHz can give you trouble. How much money do you have?

This because I think you'd be better off buying a new motherboard of the P45 chipset family and overclock a cheaper quadcore beyond the clocks a Q9550 has. Not sure though. Wait for feedback, maybe the q9550 on it's own is good enough.

I don't disagree with your position as the quad is better because of the physics calculations, only that he will still be left with a sub 3.0ghz processor with out upgrading the MB. I am here to tell you that BFBC2 runs just fine with an E6300 Pentium @ 3.6ghz and a 250GTS at 1440x900. Of course it is his money to spend as he sees fit. My feeling is he is overspending on a 775 quad given his MB.

I wish live near to 1, but no.
and yes, probly if i could OC enough ill get some more frames, but i may get the overpriced Q9550 so it last longer, then later get a dif mobo to OC.

Still can hear more opinions about the Q9400 0r Q9550.

Cheers!

In that case the Q9550. In most cases it can overclock to 4.0GHz at least.

Go for the Q9550, there is actually a cheaper one currently on ewiz, OEM:

http://www.ewiz.com/detail.php?name=...LGA775-CPU-OEM

Use promo code SHAMROCK10 while checking out to make it $220. Deal ends today though.

As for the FPS gain in BF:BC2, a stock Q9550 gets more fps than my e8400 @ 4 ghz. An OC'd Q9550 (even a mild OC like 3.5 ghz) gets about double my fps.

The Q96XX is 300$ out of question.

And thnks Don'tknow for the link and promo. you think the stock fan from my e7400 will fit that q9550?

Cheers!
