Nice find. Seems like the 470 is on par with the 5870. It all comes down to prices in the end.

Thats 450 pounds or euros (not sure which), not USD. Maybe Im wrong though?

Anyways. Looking at the benchies, if it does come in at $600+ USD, 5870 will still be a MUCH better deal marked up. And for the fairly large performance increase w/ the 5970, it would be worth the extra money. Wonder how the 470 will do compared to the 5850.

450 euros sounds about right for a brand new top line nvidia card.

Europeans get screwed over. Usually euros -> dollars prices are the same.

At this minute, the exchange rate is 1Euro=$1.38, therefore it would be $621.00

So the GTX470 is on par with the HD5870 and GTX480 loses to the HD5970 but is still the fastest single GPU.

I still think ATi has the advantage cause it cost less.

Did you read the article?? Its says $450!! What more do you need?

People have expected single GPU Geforce GTX 480 to end up at close to $600 or £600 in Europe after tax but it turns out that the amount Nvidia wants for its new high end card should be closer to £450.
or $450.....

600 euros would be.... $828 according to your outlook on it..

AWESOME! Apart from the TERRIBLE review lol.

So the GTX 480 beats the 5970's ass if there is a LOT of tessalation!

Heavy Tessellation:
GTX 480: 43 fps / HD 5970: 29 fps
GTX 480: 45 fps / HD 5970: 36 fps

I wanna see benchies running on a i7 running at 4.0-4.2Ghz.. not at a measly 3.3Ghz. I say the CPU was bottlenecking the 5870 and 5970... and probably the GF100s too.

For computer parts, it seems they basically pay 1:1, thus the "get screwed" part.

Considering none of this is official, i think y'all are making too much out of the supposed prices.

Y'all are quick to point out the dubiousness of articles saying high prices, I suggest you treat "friendly" articles the same way

And you are quick to point out anything pro-ATI/anti-Nvidia in this section. Just trolling, or what?

I haven't even seen any pricing articles, high or low, until the past few days. All that was floating around before that was a very high number that was made up by a site taking advantage of the launch hype for some free press.

+1 Bob...

I read the entire thread over at TPU and Steevo said the results were fake. Until the NDA is lifted, one cant believe anything from anyone anwhere.

I asked for some clarity on his subsequent statement, hopefully he will follow up soon.

Come on NDA, lift, LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFT so I can see something real!!!!! I feel that all these threads from all these sites are just like old WWII propoganda flyers dropped from airplanes!!! haha!

Agreed. Although if the GTX 480 wants to have a chance it's going to need to be around the 5870 price range IMO. Sure they have a slight advantage with the tessellation...but cmon they sure have taken their sweet time to get this card out.

With that said, a $400 price range would certainlly be low enough for me to justify purchasing one

I think it's the NDA that'll come the 26th and that sales will start in April.

Sure. Thats not the point though. The point was just watching 'rumor mongering' threads pop up all over the place claiming actual benches/pictures/names is getting old and only adding fuel to an obnoxiously large fire already. Im not saying they shouldnt be posted, nor am I directing this towards the OP specifically. Sometimes legit ones do leak out pre NDA and since I have 'train wreck syndrome' I have to stop and look at all threads that make a claim similar to "ZOMFG!! 4x0 results!!!!". Im chomping at the bit to buy one if it works out for me so I have to look.

Per usual, Im disappointed in the content as its fake. I just want the NDA gone!

At this point they aren't on the same generation though IMO.
If we call the 5000 series the 4th generation (x1900 being first for the GPGPU stuffs), i would call Fermi a 4.5th generation now, i think it's more accurate and kinder then calling it a woefully late 4th generation.
As such, it should be decently six months faster

As such, it'd be nice if their 40nm 300w graphics card could beat ATIs 40nm 300w graphics card. If it can't, somebody is doing it wrong.

I'm very curious to see if the real benchmarks show the same tesselation advantage.
