Its time for something new/er. I have been using bits and bits since 2006 back when the Pentium D was released. Which is currently my processor "Pentium D 930", its a great chip, will run 4Ghz and not break a sweat, but it pumps out the heat and I really would liek a quad core.

The rest of my system consists of:

ASUS P5Q PRO
2x1GB DDR2 667
XFX 8800 GTS 512MB (also really great and has no problems, but I would like DX11)
a jumble of hard drives.

and the rest doesn't really matter...

If I upgrade this is what I want:

Core 2 Quad Q9550
2x4GB DDR2 1066
Radeon HD 5770

that would cost me approzx $570, I would use my current mobo case psu, everything accept for the cpu ram and video card "obviously...".

If I were to go all new here is the list:

Core i7 920 D0 stepping
3x2GB DDR3 1333
ASUS P6T X58
2x Radeon HD 5770
2x1tb wd black hdd
850 watt 80plus psu corsair
and a case to stuff it into.

come out to about 1500-1600.

what are your thoughts ? I use it for a bit of gaming, alot of movie watching, and web browsing.

A 750w or maybe even a 650w Corsair PSU can run that system if you are going with the build a new PC option.
