Yup, got it 2 weeks ago for $99 from Fry's.
I was overclocking and probably keep it at 4.62Ghz.......but then enticed by the competition just for the fun of it......on air....WR 4th place Super PI 1M

Swapped out with GeIL rams for the competition.
It's not the best...but will do.

Too lazy to remove out of the case for nude benching.....
The FANs are temporary turned to accommodate an additional 12cm fan during the competition for extra cooling to handle all of that crazy vcore. :)

Well, that's a big cooler. You're fourth! And above Brolloks! :D It seems that duo cores are the best for this test.

That's pretty impressive for such a low end rig. Great clocks and good temps. Way to go Sam!

I'd venture to say that BECAUSE its such a cheap rig, he pushes the crap out of it. More so then we'd like on our i7s.

Good Job Sam, you have always impressed me with your Budget Overclocks.

Thank you very much guys.
hic hic...... I couldn't shake "BULLET" off the stage 1 chart. His rams are great.
All I need is another 1 or 2 bclk....but it wouldn't budge....and so flaky.

That is the same cooler that I've used on Q6600 since it was sold.
I also have a Venomous X being saved for the next rig ....but don't know if that would make any difference or gain to use on this rig atm.

I had my wish for that 2 extra bclk......but still behind by 2 milli-seconds.

Anyway, I had fun with the competition. I never knew the cpus that I've used could go as high as they did without beating the crap out of them. :p

Here are my best time 1M and 32M for this "cheap combo"

That is most definitly the 1st place score....the other thress above you ARE NOT ON AIR COOLING ;)

Bravo SSM, well done

Thanks M8.
Yeah, I've been looking at those and wondering too.
Unless, they brought the whole computer outside during the Wintery night and bench...

Nope...those clocks are not possible without extreme cooling (DICE, LN2....phase probably isn't even cold enough for those)....even if it was -60C outside and they were using a 250CFM fan on the VenomousX...it still would not be possible ;) Those entries are simply typos or misunderstandings with foriegn languages.
The other ones you'd have to look at are the ones labled "stock" (many of which are not really stock). But I think it's safe to say you're doing very well

I was benching with an E8500 and E8400 in the competition as well....
The only way for me to get 4.90GHz and 4.80GHz respectively was to run as 1 core. It's good to know since you've told me...otherwise, that cloud keeps on hanging over my head.

Not on standard air.

I cant hit on water what I could on air a few months ago when it was cold out :)

(although its cold tonight...)

Maybe I'm just out of the loop here but I'd say 1.7+ vcore is 'beating the crap out of it' :p Nice OCs and a WR too!!

Adjustments

This is an old Gateway computer manufactured Jan/03...originally had a Pentium 4 2GHz chip in it.
I saw it collecting dust at a friend's garage unwanted.
The case is 1.0 mm SECC or thicker throughout with thick side panels for noise isolation.
Very good quality...and it's for FREE....just needed a few minor modifications.
Everything were ditch...case wanted only.

...btw, I've just finished fine tune all settings and settled for 4.60GHz
Idle: 58W --- Load P95 sFFTs: 180W

Increased QPI Link speed improved performance. Eventhough, timings were reduced.
