Registry Cleaners?

I'm looking for a good, free registry cleaner program... Not a trial thing in which tells you your pc is about to blow up & to give them $50 to fix it.lol

Are there any? Thanks...

Best registry cleaner is a reformat...

TTT for you for those applications though. I personally do not trust any I used (a couple years ago).

yeah but formating is not usually something the average user wants to do... I have a few friends/family & others I know who's systems are just slowly to a crawl & most likely is b/c of registry issues, b/c I've cleaned them out of other crap. So thought I may give one of these a try... if they are ok to use & get some suggestions on any...

I use CCleaner's advanced functions and it seemed to work.

I now however shy away from cleaning, etc. The best thing any user can do is just get all their programs they want to install in a pile and all their documents in a folder and copy them to a removable/secondary HD and do a wipe and install. Like you said, out of the norm for most people but it's highly recommended. There are things in the system now or something that can pop up later like spy/malware or a virus that you would be more than happy you took that bit of time and collected all of your stuff up and put it somewhere (like a 2nd hard drive) so you can do a clean install.

Most registry cleaners I have encountered do more harm than good. They remove empty entries, but some of these are empty for a reason. Most of the time a good cleanup with MalwareBytes, msconfig, and removing temporary files does wonders.
