JDK problem

I can no longer comply files that require external class file. I used to be able to do it but no when I compile it gives me a error that the class definetion is not found. This is really making me mad becuase I have a ssignment due and I need to be able to use external classes. So far this only applies to classes that I have written. They are in the same directory and it still does this. Please help me.

Did it use to work the way you are doing it now, and then just broke one day?

I am just going to try and reinstall and see if that helps. I think I might have screwed my file permissions up.
