DDR2 - 667 MHz to 800MHz can i?

Hi,

Actually i have 4GB (2*2) of DDR2 RAM at 667 MHz (default).

I change the FSB of my E5200 to 240, which is equal to 3.0 GHz.

Now, i want to change the speed of RAM from 667 to 800.

I can bott with 800 but it can be dangerous for my computer?

it all depends on the ram and the timings used .

Can you post a Screen shot of the SPD and the Memory tab in CPUz ?

You should also download then burn Memtest so you can see if your ram is running @ your new settings .

BTW did you run p95 or Occt on your CPU after you overclocked to check if it is stable ?

So ... in 667 MHz the memory clock is 400.0Mhz ... when i change to 800 the clock changes to 480.0MHz so, is not much ... i think that it really don't work at effective 800 MHz, right?

I think that i will stay in 667 with FSB at 240 ... i run all tests with this overclock and the system is very stable don't give me any error or anything else in the tests.

With stable system i got this:

I think that it's all okay.

But i have one question, the ratio 10:6 is correct? Is a good ratio?

I don't know much about this.

All voltages are in Auto mode is good to change it?

Regards.

I have overclocked ddr2667 to 800 speeds but I increased the voltage quite a bit. It worked ok but it will run hotter and run a risk of burning something up....

Hi, nobody can help me?

I have one more question.

I have 2*2GB 667MHz CL5 Kingston (5-5-5-15) and the speed is 333 MHz.

When i change the FSB to 240 in my E5200 the speed of RAM speedup to 400MH. Is that normal?

I am not real familiar with current intel overclocking but I think maybe you are changing the memory divider/ratio and that is what is confusing you.
I would check in the intel forum area and ask in there or find some overclocking stickies there, that could better explain things.
I don't think that the memory section is as frequently visited by the number of people that are in the intel section.

Thank you :P

Eg. I change my motherboard to speed the ram to 667 MHz but when i change the FSB to 240 automatically the memory changes to 800 MHz and i can't do nothing! If i change 667 it works at 800!

Weird :S

Math. FSB from 200 to 240. 200 x1.2 = 240.

667 x 1.2 = 800.

You are running the ram at 800. If it starts giving BSODs then there is a problem. If not, then go for it.

However, sometimes the ram may want more volts to run at that speed. Depends.

Okay let's see if i understand...

When i change the FSB the ram clock speed up automatically? Is that?
