Question unknown gateway amd board

I have a gateway amd 950 cpu and board that i bought from a friend, trying to figure out what kind of board and overchip possibilities it might hold, also having difficulties with what seems like lag, vid card is a 32meg savage s4, know it isn't the best but it was bought for me by my fiance, also, how do i get rid of the stupid gateway logo during startup or am i stuck with it? i am sure it is in the bios, would pulling the battery, remove it? and what effects would it have on my performance to pull and replace the battery...thanks

Do u have the whole computer or just the CPU & board?
if you have the tower then look for serial number and go here.

If not then you could try 2 thing.
one would be to install OS and install SiSoft then it will tell you all the information you need.

second look on the board for chipset. It should have some name brand. then search on internet for the proper driver.
The second one is what I use most.

about pulling the battery it will not get rid of the logo.
the board probably have antivirus protect on it. you will have to disable it first then replace the logo. check gateway site.

my recommandation would be to find out from the seller what model is this gateway.

this would also help you.

if you look for chip set on the CPU go to this link and you'll find information about the board.
