you might want to upgrade the ssd to 60gb. I heard 30gb fills up reeeeeeeal fast. Everything else seems good. How long into the future are you looking at?

I only plan to have the OS on the SSD, don't really wanna spend more, I heard Win7 takes 15GB should be enough. Umm, atleast 5 years I guess

for five years i think future wise you will be fine but you might have to upgrade the gpu (even though thats a great gpu now) a new DX might come out and you might want to replace it then but theres no way of telling.
also what will this pc be for?

You don't need the HAF X, it's was made for XL-ATX motherboards. Just get the HAF 932 or HAF 922 to save some $$$.

Do you live near a MicroCenter? If so, you can get the i7 875K for $200 :D

Dunno about the MicroCenter. Is that the actual name?

PC is for everything really.
Basic gaming, nothin extreme like Crysis I usually play Blizzard games and CounterStrike.
DVD burning and formatting
Photo/Video/Music storage and small editing if I figure out an easy program lol
Minimal Microsoft Office work
Web browsing
Probably TV Tuner in future

That's about it. I'm sure it's overkill but that's what will carry me into future.

Oh and I love the Haf X I won't give it up I plan to WC in future

Win7 (32bit) needs 16GB, the 64bit needs 20GB. Taken from Here .

As ChanceCoats mentioned, you'll want to at least install the important programs besides the OS on the SSD. I've got a pair of 30GB SSD's in raid for my OS and important proggies so it'll be snappy. Games, Tunes and other stuff I have on one of my 500GB sata drives. Yeah it takes a few xtra seconds to load, but other than that it's fast enough for my needs

Congrats on the new build. Looks to be a nice killer system.

Ok you ******** implanted this sickness in my head of a larger SSD! LOL

I've got my eye on this one;
Kingston SSDNow V+ Series SNVP325-S2/64GB 2.5" 64GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

there's also an identical one called SNVP325-S2B, basically a B added to the end but I see no difference, any ideas?

Also
**
OCZ Vertex 2 OCZSSD2-2VTXE60G 2.5" 60GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

I would go with the Ocz (tehehe). IIRC, Kingston is a relabeled intel drive so you don't get the over provisioning that Ocz provides.

In plain english, this means that with the Ocz drive, after formatted, it will be 59.6gb's, while the Kingston will be (64 x .931) = 59.6. So you're paying for more space, but not getting it.

Never used either of those SSD's but I've been told that OCZ one is blazingly fast and pretty damn solid (no pun intended ;))

But either way, this is a great build.

Yea I liked the ocz better as well.

What u guys think about ddr3 1800? MB says it accepts it but OC that means it has to be 1600 or lower OC'd to 1800?

Thanks wayout!

It means that 10 or 12 is the max RAM multiplier. Your RAM speed is bclk*RAM multiplier; your CPU's default bclk is 133.3, so 133.3*10 = 1333MHz or 133.3*12 = 1600MHz for your RAM. So, to get any higher RAM speeds, you'll have to OC your bclk to higher than 133.3MHz.

Only thing I already had was the mouse, also need a monitor. Would like an LED one, not one that really grabbed my eye though..

you didn't really need 2x dvd drives.. usually you copy a dvd to HDD then from HDD to dvd.. very rarely do you do dvd to dvd directly.. 2nd one seems kinda pointless imo..

overall though, solid build!!

Yea I like to avoid waiting for it to burn to HDD then put in a blank DVD then burn, prefer one shot.

Thanks!

FYI you can also trim the install size down using Vlite.

Build looks solid. Are you getting the extreme chip b/c you plan on extree overclockinG? If not, just get the i7 860 and call it a day and save some money for that bigger SSD like a few have mentioned.
