building my first rig (budget $1500). please help!
I've never built a custom rig before. I was wondering if I could get any suggestions from the overclockers community.
Any advice, suggestions, comments will be very very much appreciated!
I've selected these components on a configurator from ibuypower.
I've read some some pretty dismal reviews about this reseller, but I think it may be simpler just to order from them. Anyway here is the build:
Case ( Thermaltake Armor A90 Gaming Case - Black )
Processor ( Intel® Core™ i7 930 Processor (4x 2.80GHz/8MB L3 Cache )
Processor Cooling ( [Free Upgrade] Liquid CPU Cooling System w/ 120mm Radiator [SOCKET-1366] )
Memory ( 6 GB [2 GB X3] DDR3-1333 - Corsair XMS3 Dominator w/DHX technology )
Video Card ( NVIDIA GeForce GTX 470 - 1.2GB - Single Card )
Motherboard ( ASUS P6T SE )
Power Supply ( 750 Watt -- Corsair CMPSU-750TX Power Supply - SLI Ready )
Primary Hard Drive ( 1TB SATA-III 64M Cache Single Drive )
Free Stuff ( [FREE] - ASUS USB-N13 802.11b/g/n USB 2.0 300Mbps Wireless USB Adapter - Free with Purchase of ASUS Motherboard )
Optical Drive ( 24X Dual Format/Double Layer DVD±R/±RW + CD-R/RW Drive - Black )
Meter Display ( NZXT Sentry 2 Touch Screen Fan Controller & Temperature Display )
Sound Card ( 3D Premium Surround Sound Onboard )
Network Card ( Onboard LAN Network (Gb or 10/100) )
Operating System ( Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium + Office Starter 2010 (Includes basic versions of Word and Excel) - 64-Bit )
Advanced Build Options ( Professional wiring for all cables inside the system tower - Achieve exceptional airflow in your chassis )
Advanced Build Options ( Tuniq TX-2 High Performance Thermal Compound - The best interface between your CPU and the heatsinks )
The total comes out to about $1420 after shipping.
Ibuypower is also offering a 30GB kingston solid state drive free after rebate as primary or data drive, but I'm not too familiar with SSDs; I'm not sure what to do with that. Should I get one?
Is this a good rig / ok deal?
I'll be using this computer primarily for: fps gaming, Autodesk Maya 2011, Zbrush 3.5, Photoshop Illustrator AfterEffects CS4 (maybe CS5).
Any suggestions?
Also forgive me in advance if I am a bit nub :S
Much thanks again for any advice!
