Hello,
My Q6600 idles at ~44 for all cores, but when I max out the CPU usage (compressing with 7zip), it jumps to 70. How tolerable is this? Do you think if I re-grease it that the temperature will improve? The case is metal and hot to the touch when on full load.

Can you give us some info on your setup? What case and cpu fan/heatsink do ya have?
The more info you can give us the better ;D

Looks like you have a pretty small case... 70C might not be too bad in a small case, but i'm sure it could be improved.

I liked to keep my q6600 below 70c max...65c in a perfect world. I think you are running a little warm, but I wouldn't stress out about it...nothing you ever do on your computer is gonna hammer it like prime. Is it a B3 step or a G0 step?
