A friend of mine is offering to sell me this exact monitor for $250. It's uses would include gaming on PS3, XBox 360, computer, and possible even using as a TV in my living room.

I do not want something that's going to have a horrible response time like the older plasma TVs. I can't play games on something with a horrible delay...I'm sure all of you would agree.

Is it worth buying, would you buy it?

All input is appreciated.

Thanks

I probably wouldn't for two reasons.

1. The info looks shady and doesn't post a response time.
2. It's a 16:9 monitor, but has a 1024x1024 resolution... Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's 1:1 and not 16:9.

I wouldn't get it because of the 1024x1024 resolution as well as the lack of digital inputs. The only ones I see listed are VGA (15pin) and 5 BNC(RedGreenBlue with sync)

Either buy a normal PC monitor that is at least 1920x1080, or save a few months and buy a pricier set.

HELL NO i wouldn't buy that monitor!

What are we in the STONE AGE now?

Are we reduced to the level of DUMB BEASTS?

1024x1024? I've got a dial-up modem I can sell you for 200 bucks too... :p j/k

Even though it says 1024x1024, you can run widescreen resolutions. There are a couple of companys that make 1024x1024 widescreen tv's/monitors.

Hmm ok... cool.

That still yields a 1024x768 res for widescreen. Horrifically low. Do games even support 1024x1024 or would that be a custom res add?

I wonder if the 1kx1k resolution had to do anything with the actual pixes size. Were the pixels rectangular, and they needed more in the vertical? I couldn't find a solid answer anywhere, except that the panels were made by Hitachi and some other company.

They pixels aren't square, they are rectangle. It's not a 1:1 ratio.

Here's some good knowledge:

Ummm check this out...this one has the same specs as the one that I've been offered. Look at the price on it.

No HDMI
No DVI
No HDCP
Low Contrast
Poor Response Time
Low Resolution
Massive Power Consumption for the size

:-/

Save your money for a decent monitor

Where did you find the response time?

I'm actually going to skip out on this deal. There is a 37" Vizio at Wal-Mart that I'm debating on getting. It has good specs, and I work there so I get 10% off.

This one:

I'd just like some approval from the more knowledgeable people.

Thanks, everyone.
