Anyone know the size of the exposed section of chip on i5? General dimensional requirements for 1156 MB would probably suffice. Thanks

are you talking about IHS size or the size of the cores after removal of the ihs?

What I am wondering what is the max size of the heat sink contact area. I have a heat sink and fan and just want to know if it's going to fit. I could just pop off the stock cooler and try it.
I guess it's time to update my profile, this is my new i5 chip and GB p55UD3 board. I just noticed join date. Damn.......... Still overclocking. This one is at 3.5Ghz on factory air with
voltage reduced to 1.1875 to keep chip cool.

Its not the size of the IHS thats relevant its if the bracket from the heatsink will fit in the screw holes.
