hey there, i was wondering why im only getting 3.8 out of my i7 when i see other people with the same board and cpu getting past 4. is there sopmething in my set up that is preventing the push past 4?

Have you tried using the overclocknig guide (link in my sig)

What are your voltages set at?

It could be the 8GB of ram holding it back or temps...

MOAR info please!

yes, your i7 guide is what got me going on my first OC. and i learned ALOT but on some of the finer things im still a lil fuzzy on.

tems are fine, right now on idle temps are 35-38, gaming and benchmarking i never go past 45-48.

core voltage is @ 1.280

multiplier is @ 19
bus speed 198.4
qpi link @ 3571 mhz

voltage on all ram is 1.5
gskil f3-12800cl9-2gbnq
dram freq is 793.5mhz
FSB:DRAM 2:8
cl 9
tRCD 9
tRP 9
tRAS 9
cycle time 24
tRFC 86
CR 2T

7-7-7-20-27

i might just pull out the 2 sticks and try that and see how stable she is. is 8 gb too much.

What is set Vtt at?

Show CPUz screenshots of Memory and SPD tabs plz...

Have you tried raising the Vcore?

Oh and definately not my guide. MIAHALLEN did a bang up job on it. :)

Tell me how that goes if you pull two sticks. Have you tried mem86 to see if it's your RAM holding you back, maybe you just need more VTT for your IMC and more V core.

ok, heres the links to the SS

and for ***** and giggles i tried the ASUS auto tuning OC and got to 4.1 but almost immediate BSOD. so right now im kinda lost, cause it seems as though i have the ability to push 4.0 but either system crash cause im missing something or straight to BSOD.../sigh hate being a n00b sometimes

Like I mentioned above, you need to raise some volts. Following MIAH's guide should get you where you need to go.

Put CPUv at 1.35 and Vtt to 1.3 and see how that goes. Make sure the voltage and timings for your ram are manually set as well.
