What is Intel Rapid Storage Technology app for?

When I was fiddling around with the Intel Matrix Storage trying to get RAID to work after I installed Windows 7 (now I know...), I came across the program/app called "Intel Rapid Storage Technology." I have it installed on my laptop but I have no idea what it's for.

so...what is it for?

The only thing I've used it for is to enable write-back cache on my 2x30GB Vertex RAID0 array.

I think it's actually a driver but they just include some stupid software package with it. When I installed the driver package for my X25-M that program showed up. Apparently with Intel SSDs you need the driver for something. I don't remember what or even if I'm right but it can't hurt lol

No drivers are necessary, just run the matrix storage software to enable write back cache.
