I built my first computer - with the help of this board - a little over 2 years ago.
It was:
Corsair HX 620W Power Supply
EVGA 780i
Intel Xeon E3110 3.0ghz
4gb (2x2gb) Corsair PC2 6400 XMS2 RAM
EVGA 8800gtx
500gb WD HD
This computer has done me well, never had a lot of problems with it. The cpu ran OC'd at 3.6ghz & 1.24v this entire time without flaw. But it is showing it's age with the newer games that have come out. I want to upgrade (and sell off the old parts) but I'm wondering if I can maybe keep a few of the old ones. I haven't been following the new motherboard/cpu's so I just want to double check to make sure I'm getting the best I can afford. I'm looking for a medium-build that I can later upgrade. Unfortunately with my last build I couldn't upgrade to the new Core i series.
I want to get:
Core i5 750 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115215 - Is this a good OC'er? Would I need to get a new cooler?
ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 LGA 1366 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131365 - I am less sure about the motherboard. Is this good enough for what I want? I want to eventually upgrade to a Core i7 + SLI.
GTX 460 Gigabyte 1gb - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125333 - I want to eventually get a 2nd one for SLI.
I am wondering if I can stick my old power supply + memory with these parts. Or will my old memory be a bottleneck for the rest of the system? I also want to use a smaller case this time, my Thermaltake full tower is a little lanky and has the power supply at the top and not the bottom. I don't need anything fancy.
I was thinking of something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129042
Anything I should modify?
