Do the cards need to be exactly the same for xFire?

I have an Asus EAH4850 i bought ~1.5 years ago and they no longer sell these. It's factory overclocked at 680 GPU and I'd like to get more horsepower. Am I out of luck unless I can find a second version of this exact card?

Thx

You can CF it with a HD4850 or HD4870 I believe, but I think it would be worthwhile to invest in a HD5770-HD5870 and sell your current card unless you can pick one up cheap. (When CF with the HD4870 it acts almost the same as two HD4850 in CF in terms of performance)

Heres a chart http://game.amd.com/us-en/content/im...ombo_chart.jpg. Basically if you have a 48xx card you can crossfire with any 48xx like a 4870 or 4830. Same for the 5xxx series. It is always best though to buy the same exact cards because the slower card might bottleneck the faster card.
