I am having wierd locks and pauses in games and have ruled out memory, GPU, and PSU by simply replacing them all :)

I wonder if I have some weird corrupt Windows thing so I ran sfc /SCANNOW and it says there are issues with system files that can not be fixed.

Is my only option a fresh install?

Note that I'm using Win7 x64. I recall back in the XP days you could perform a "repair" install, but I don't see that option on the Win7 disk.

TIA

This will show you how to extract original files from the retail Windows 7 installation DVD. You can then use these extracted files to replace missing or corrupted system files in your current Windows 7 installation.

Normally you will find out that you have corrupted system files that cannot be repaired after your run a sfc /scannow command and look at it's log report.

Thanks the log is huge so I think it will be hard to manually fix up the files. Will a repair install mess up any of my installed applications, drivers etc? Or just reset my personal settings

I would backup your stuff just in case... but repair install might fix the issues you're experiencing...

Drivers, updates, and application might need a reinstall.
