Seems decent....not sure how much of any upgrade it is from your current setup though...Are you buying a second 5850?

Thats the funny part. Do i really need it ? Not really. I have noticed my system "struggle" on a few things so the thought of building a new one has been in my mind. Now with me out of work for a short period of time i am bored and glued to microcenters website ! This new project is to help keep my sanity.

Plan is to run a single GPU.

Sounds like a good build but I'm wondering if you've considered the 1GB GTX 460 rather than the 5850?

Not really. The 5850 is more than i need right now. Doesn't take much to push BFBC2.

Have you made the SSD plunge? That's your best option honestly! I mean my system is aging, but 3.4ghz quad even though it's C2Q is still more than enough grunt for practically everything. I honestly think your best course of action is to buy a 120GB vertex 2 and another 4gb of RAM...if you need GPU power get a 480 or 5970...or 5870 but that's not a huge upgrade....

*edit* sig doesn't show, but I'm running an 80GB G2 at home, my laptop has a 120GB mushkin callisto on the way!

+1 to the SSD upgrade.. will probably be your most noticeable upgrade aside from some more ram as aj said.. if you're mostly playing that one game you're right.. you dont need a super card to handle it

Agreed, you probably don't need a new system. Even a 60GB Vertex 2 will be fine. After that, the cost tends to rapidly go up for larger drives.

SSD seem a bit expensive right now. Would i notice much if i moved to a 10K raptor ?

Searching a bit 7500 to 10K doesnt seem worth it. With the prices of the SSD's ill wait and just go for a system. Like said before i know its not a must have compared to the current system but more of treat. Looks like mom is going to get a nice free system (my Q9550).

Love ya mom lol

Well in that case, then everything looks pretty good.

Cheaper RAM with same specs: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-335-_-Product. And with an H70, tall heat spreaders are a non-issue.

SSD prices are coming down fast and will continue too...but it's still gonna get you the biggest notable performance increase for the cash. 150 bucks can get you 60GB vertex 2 or X25-M 80gb (used). I know you seem apprehensive but I've yet to hear anyone who's went to an SSD and not been happy.

Either way, new hardware is fun to install and mess with, So enjoy!
