This is my first post on OC forums. I hope this isn't posted else ware, if it is, I apologize. I'm trying to build my first rig and have pretty much figured out what parts to purchase. I have already bought my case and monitor but need to know what components to buy next. If someone could please help, I would appreciate it very much.

Also here's a list of hardware I would like to put in my rig (any feedback on the items listed would be great):

Case: Antec Twelve Hundred Black Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Monitor: ASUS VW246H Glossy Black 24" 2ms(GTG) HDMI Widescreen LCD Monitor

Motherboard: ASUS P6X58D Premium LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

CPU: Intel Core i7-930 Bloomfield 2.8GHz LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Desktop Processor BX80601930

PSU: CORSAIR CMPSU-850TX 850W ATX12V 2.2 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Active PFC Power Supply

RAM: Patriot Gamer Series 24GB (6 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model PGS324G1600ELHK

GPU: EVGA 012-P3-1472-AR GeForce GTX 470 (Fermi) SuperClocked FTW 1280MB 320-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

HDD: Western Digital VelociRaptor WD3000HLFS 300GB 10000 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive (OS)

(2) Western Digital Caviar Black WD6401AALS 640GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive

Cooling: COOLER MASTER Intel Core i7 compatible V8 RR-UV8-XBU1-GP 120mm Rifle CPU Cooler

Thank you in advance!

What do you plan to use the system for? Without knowing what you plan to use 24GB of ram for, my first vote would be to drop the amount of RAM to something more reasonable, and replace the primary hard drive with an SSD, and possibly upgrade the secondary drive to something bigger.

I'd also switch mobos to something different, as the hardocp review had trouble overclocking it. For example, I get a much more positive feel from this review and you could save a couple bucks:

I don't think there's any reason that a home PC needs 24GB of RAM.

If you really want a ton, 12 (3x4), is plenty. Get DDR3-1600 CAS7, then throw in a 60GB Vertex 2 and a 1TB Caviar Black to replace your HDD configuration.

If you have some cash left over, get a NH-D14 or a H70 for your CPU cooler, much better performers.

I would like this PC to be one that I wouldn't have to upgrade for a couple years and be able to play some PC games on it. Thanks I.M.O.G. for the MOBO advice. I wanted a SSD but which one do you recommend as this would only have my OS, programs, and games on it. What HDD do you recommend for storage? Maybe 2 TB drives? How much RAM would you recommend and what speed?

6 or 12GB (3 x 2GB or 3 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 with a CL of 7.

The OCZ Vertex 2/Agility 2 are the best SSD's IMO. I've heard good things about Intel and Corsair too.

WD Cavair Black all the way for mechanical drives.

It's all your choice on the capacity, whatever you're willing to pay for.

Thank you Knufire for the recommendations. I think I'll go with this:

MOBO: GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD3R LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

SSD: OCZ Vertex 2 OCZSSD2-2VTX100G 2.5" 100GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

HDD: (2) Western Digital Caviar Black WD1001FALS 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive

RAM: G.SKILL Trident+ Turbulence II 12GB (3 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL7T-12GBTDD (Now the memory standard for the X58A-UD3R says: DDR3 2200/1333/1066/800, so I'm guessing this RAM wouldn't work?)

Cooler: Noctua NH-D14 120mm & 140mm SSO CPU Cooler

Look good?

Guess I should've read some reviews/feedback first before asking. Thank you all so much for the support. It's going to be awhile before I get all the parts purchased but I'll probably be back with some more questions soon. Thanks again! :D
