SSD woes

wow never had so much trouble. havent had a chance to call support since its after hours, and weekend, but here is where im at so far. what do you think the issue is?

OCZ vertex 2 120gb via newegg.

Specs in sig - side note newes mobo bios.

2x sata dvd burners, 2x 500gb in raid0. I plug in the SSD to another sata port, and make sure that port is on, but not "raid" enabled (nvidia 780i thing). i boot regular to see it in windows to update firmware. windows freezes while booting. doesnt matter what port or what bios settings....same freeze. the "Detecting IDE drives" takes about 5 mins, then in bios shows nothing on that port.

i think...hmm great! i unplug all SATA except the ssd. same bios hang. Hard bios reset. same hang. great.

I reconnect everything WITHOUT the ssd. I boot to windows (after reconfig bios/raid) and im in windows. I have a drive adapter (2.5", 3.5" ide/sata) to USB. I plug that in, windows found the disk once and asked to initialize, then failed. I tried the usb sata adapter in 2 other computers, and nothing anywhere.

I pulled the hdd outta my gf's lenovo. Popped in the ssd. Bios loading took FOREVER, and still didnt see it. didnt see it with USB adapter for SATA either.

I have a bad drive yea? never had a bad hdd!!!!

aside from that i have been reading nvidia 7 series hates teh SSDS for no AHCI support..so might have to change mobo too

Ya you have a bad drive. Let us know how the warranty exchange with OCZ goes.

i assume that plugging the ssd into the usb adapter would work, thus that makes me think its a bad drive.

Boucher, what do you mean aligned?

but since i just got the drive should i exchange at newegg, or go through OCZ? i dont want to go through OCZ if i will get a refurb drive...considering i just paid for a new one hahahah guess i have to call both parties on monday and see.

I'd exchange with newegg. It took me FOREVER to get my Vertex replaced when it died through OCZ.

But that's a dead drive. Controller has gone bye bye.
