For those of you who dont already know, PC-X will be the next generation PCI interface that is up to ten times faster than the original PCI socket.

PCI (Up to Six Slots)
133MB/s

PCI-X (One Slot (Up To Four Slots)
1066MB/s

You can see the difference that PCI-X makes. But unfortuneatly, the AMD architecture throughput is around 533MB/s throughout the bridge. But even if AMD had 1GB/s throughout the bridge, the full potential of PCI-X wouldnt be seen.

If more than one slot of PCI-X is on the motherboard (say 4 slots) then the maxiumum throughput on each slot would be 266MB/s.

The first series of PCI-X for desktop will come with 2 slots giving you 533MB/s bandwidth which will dramatically speed things up specially with Giga bit lan cards and 32-bit audio cards which are soon to be released.

Just wanted to share this with everyone!
