Exclamation Unstable connection with Linksys Router both wired and hard wired

I have Linksys WRT54GH wireless G router and it has never worked fine for me! I connected my desktop (wired) and laptop (wireless) and they both get intermittent internet connection. When I hard wired them directly to the modem, everything works fine. I called linksys and advised me to reset the router....didn't work. I called them again and I was advised to download the latest firmware for the router... I followed all the instructions from their website but that didn't work as well. I am tired of calling Linksys plus the wait time on their support line is soooooo long.I can't think of anything else to resolve this problem. I also tried to explore the GUI of of this router and turned off the firewall as well as DMZ.... I would appreciate if someone would suggest me other troubleshooting steps to make the connection stable on this router.

Note: I am using ADSL (2mbps)

I use ddwrt with my Linksys WRT54GL, but I have to make sure that UPnP is off in order to maintain a solid connection. (Especially with BFBC2...that game disconnects me every 2 minutes if I have UPnP enabled on the router.)

Try disabling UPnP and/or QOS on the router and see if it helps.

No prob...glad it worked out for you. Until I turned off UPnP on my router I was getting pretty cheesed off too.
