470 sli loud?

I am running two evga 470 superclocked cards in sli, and just downloaded beta of medal of honor and these things are screaming. Are they usually this loud? I wish the cards had more space in between them, it can't help that they are so close.

Very normal. Also look at the amount of space between the cards. None. If you board has 3 PCI-E x16 slots, try using the 2 furthest from each other which will allow the cards to breath better.

The performance hit of 4x is only something like 2%. I don't remember the exact numbers, but i think Anandtech did an article on the different PCIe speeds.

Those specs up there? They're silent. Silence is good. Very good.
Your Core 2 Quad is based off of the Pentium pro in a few ways.

Wait it's only x4 when the third is in use. If. 2 are in use it should be 16/16 or 16/8

That was 8x was 1-2%. I think 4x was more, not sure how much though.

5%. My thought is that if I would have wanted something that performed 5% less, I would have bought 465 or 460 and overclocked it.

WINNAAAAAAAR!!!!

I had a fan ramp up at 50C-55C from 50% to 75%. Card never broke 80C outside of Furmark.

You top card may be a bit warmer but so long as its under 100C you should have any issues. The cooler the better of course.

Do I set the fan profile in EVGA Precision, and do i have to set it up to run on windows start? Because I only notice a difference when the program is running, when I shut down Precision the fans immediately change.

Yes, click the circle in Precision so that it runs on startup.

Alternatively, you can mod the BIOS to run your own customized fan profile to your liking. Then you don't need to run any OC software at all.
