*Trying* to start it up

Had to do the flag for the 5850 and folding will start up for the gpu client, But it seems as though the computer only folds when i have the viewer open? and if i close it then it will loose connection... Also im only seeing 60 iter/sec... if I dont open the viewer it just stays at 'attempting to get work packet' and then fails in a loop basically... Thank you in advance for the help getting this going, hope to fold a little...

Also i Just noticed that even when i have the viewer open and it appears to be doing work, the systray still says attempting to get work packet....

Hey there

The viewer is just eye candy, and really doesn't indicate a darn thing. It's doesn't represent what you are folding, etc. (Ya, I was disappointed as well.)

What version of the GPU client are you running?

Edit:

Remove the eye candy version, and grab this version instead. It's the console client.

Ok i got it working, how do you check your speed when the little viewer isnt open? the viewer doesnt really seem to be in 'sync' with the folding process in the systray...

HFM is what you want. Created by our own harlam357.

The viewer, when and if it works, really slows down the Folding anyway. Even the folks at PandeGroup recommend against using it. I don't know why they haven't just done away with it...

Hey blkdoutgsxr -- Outback_Jon has the answer, our home grown HFM.net. It's rather epic, if I do say so myself.

Glad you're up and running!

Because for the new people to folding it is something cool they get to see their work. Just seeing a number counting up is as exciting as a download. Personally i wish they could optimize it to run smoother since i think looking at the protein and watching it shake is pretty fun.

Then again i am quite visual so hearing something and seeing it are very very different to me.

If it didn't cause massive problems and slow things WAY down, it would be "cool". That's the only reason I think they should do away with it.
