Difference between the 2 Asus GTX460 TOP GPUs

Is there a major performance difference between the Asus GTX460 TOP 786mb and the Asus GTX460 TOP 1gb versions in terms of fps? The reason I ask is because I can get the 786mb version for $40 less, and I also plan to SLI them aswell. So if i were to buy 2 786mb, i would be saving $80.

The 768mb version is not as fast but if you're happy saving that $80 and putting it someplace else in your system that's your call. Have you considered just getting a single better card like a GTX470?

I've seen on benchmarks that the 1gb version pretty much matched the gtx470 with about 3 fps difference. I havn't found any benchmarks comparing the 786mb and 1gb versions. Plus, wouldn't having two be a lot better than 1 gtx470.

You can easly overclock a single gtx 460 1gb to match GTX 470's performance. Without changeing the voltage.

You can see here its a difference between 1gb and 768mb, 192bit vs. 256bit, & 32 rops vs 24.

I got the 768mb version and so far its great, at least a steady 150fps on TF2 and AVA on stock clocks.

It really depends on your resolution, I would think the 1gb would be a better option over all for speed and performance. The cooler and fan are different on the models with the 1gb being better with an extra heat pipe and a 92mm fan instead of an 80mm.

Thanks for all the responses guys. I've finally decided to go for the 768mb version of the gtx460 since I'm going to be using a lower resolution. I'll use the extra money for extra cooling inside the case.
If anyone is interested, here's a link comparing the two video card versions of the 460.
