Which RAID setup?

All right so I plan on getting 4 HDDs for storage and backup.

Which RAID setup would be the best?

2 Drives in RAID 0 and the other 2 in RAID 1?

All 4 in RAID 5/RAID10?

Other combinations?

I would run RAID 10 unless you plan on expanding array. If you are planning on array expansion (if your card supports it), then depending on how big you are planning on going you might consider RAID 6.

Raid 6 is silly for that few drives. you should honestly be fine with raid 5; it depends on how paranoid you are with disk failure; I've never had more than one concurrent disk failure per 4 drives, but I have seen it happen, sadly,

tldr; how secure do you want your datas?

I do plan on eventually adding more drives if space becomes an issues later down the road.

I want my data to be safe, if a drive does fail I don't want to lose all my data.

I vote RAID5/10

Depends on your storage and reliability needs.
If having more space is important go RAID 5 (4x 1TB = 3TB Array)
If having more redundancy is important go RAID10 (4x 1TB = 1.5TB Array)

What card are you planning on using? Does it support raid expansion and raid migration? What size drives are you planning on using?
