Best wireless router for <$100?

Title says it all. I need a good wireless network router for <$100.

I use TP-LINK and Ubiquity for WiFi, never had a problem with them.

TP-LINK is a dirt-cheap chinese brand and amazingly reliable, Ubiquity is more commercial but the prices are pretty good, great hardware and software.

I agree with TorqueRanger about the linksys routers (just don't get the ones that look like this). D-Link and Netgear are also very reputable home networking brands. If you need somewhere to find products from these companies try www.newegg.com or www.tigerdirect.com.

Hope this helps,
Brian

In my experience, if you want brand names, go with Linksys for the cheaper stuff, and Netgear for the high-end. Linksys's "high-end" and Netgear's cheap stuff have been unreliable for me. Haven't tried anything from TP-LINK yet, but those Slickdeals posts are getting tempting.

<tinfoil-hat>Maybe TP-LINK has Chinese firmware that sends all your packets back to China, and they're so cheap to get people to buy them so they can steal more packets ASAP </tinfoil-hat>

The default firmware is a half decent Linux distribution, but everyone uses their own distro anyways, I use OpenWRT because my ISP has their own official image for it. The official firmware gets more frequent updates than most other major brands... even the modems get regular updates.
I've talked to Linksys/D-LINK guys about TP-LINK and they're scared of them, can't compete with the prices, no surprise since TP-LINK has special arrangements with the Chinese government.
A designs B and C makes B for A to sell... but with TP-LINK they do everything so there's 1 less step to take a cut.

I'm surprised no one has said this yet: Linksys WRT54GL. A lot of people around here use it and it works well. The best option IMO is to pick up one of those and install DD-WRT firmware. Basically doubles the usefulness of the router for free.
