A newb asks a memory question

So, I've got 3 sticks of RAM: (2)OCZ DDR2 PC2-6400 2gb and (1) Wintec AmpX 1GB DDR2-800 PC2-6400

All of these are DDR2 800, and yet, on CPU-Z my DRAM frequency is showing up as 333.3 mhz..

My thinking is that since all 3 sticks are at 400 mhz (with 400 x DDR2 = 800 [DDR2 800]... right?), that this is what my DRAM reading should say. So what's up with this?

So I realize that this is most likely a matter of me just being a silly ol'e newb, in which case, could someone explain this to me (without getting overly techinical...). But if there's a way to increase it to 400 and presumably speed up my system, I'd love an explanation for that too.

Thanks!

the number shown on that tab (memory), is the base frequency the ram is actually running at now.

the SPD memory tab, will tell the type of memory and the timings tables, the memory itself displays to the machine/user. The SPD (tag) info comes off the ram hardware itself.

soo, with that in mind go to the First Tab, the CPU tab, and check out the "buss speed" that is the Base speed of the system.

There are 2 ways to change the base rate that your Ram is being operated at.
the ram "multiplier" , what frequency the ram runs at, as fractions/multiples of the base chipset speeds 3/4 4/5 1/1 5/4.
and changing the Base freqency itself of the (whole) computer.

Buss , meaning not a school bus :-)

Just to add... w/ the HT Ref. Clock at the current 200MHz, the RAM is currently running at DDR2-667MHz (333MHz x 2). In order to run the RAM at their rated 400MHz (DDR2-800), the FSB : DRAM ratio needs to be changed to 1:2 from the current 3:5. Without knowing what specific board you have, look for a DRAM Frequency or FSB : DRAM ratio related BIOS option, then manually change it to either DDR2-800 or 1:2.
