Pc upgrade cpu/motherboard/mem clean install?

I have on order a new CPU/memory/motherboard. Could i just change it out and will I be able to keep my windows in tack? or no? any info please. If I have to do a clean install, it's not a problem. Just be nice to be able to do it quickly.

I'm running windows 7 x64 home premium

Thanks!

It's all about the motherboard chipset. If it's the same or similar - no problem. If it is a completely different chipset - it may be more difficult to expect Windows to just boot into it...

Completely new architecture. Clean install is the way you want to go.

I upgraded from Athlon XP to i7 because I also don't like doing what you're asking about and held out as long as I could because i7 was a brand new architecture so I waited for it. I used my Athlon XP drive images b/w similar chipsets but when you make an architecture jump, it's time for a brand new image.
