Getting some serious crackling from my surrond speakers.

I have the built in 5.1 audio on my Soyo Dragon Plus board and I get some crackle from some of my games I play. For instance in Max Payne explosions get some crackle. I have the speakers turned down too so Its not that. Im thinking that that built in sound card sucks. Is that the problem? I do have the latest audio drivers.

I do a ton of car audio stuff....Usualy when your geting crackling it's form a wire grounding out on something...

So go through make sure all your speakers are pluged in all the way and check the wire ends for loose wires that could be touching something else.

I had a similar problem.
There was a lose wire so do check those wires out.

Another thought would be that dreaded VIA chipset problem.

Ya Ill rip the boxes apart to make sure all of them are connected properly. It only does it on games though. I never really got it on anything else now that I think of it. It doesnt happen when I play mp3s or waves.

Turn the sound down on your computer manually. To preven that, I usually keep everything at around 50% and control the volum using my speakers, not my software. Go to control panels, sound, under device control click advanced and set all the sliders to the middle. You'll really only need to adjust the Master and Wave/Mp3 volumes.
