lots page falts

Question lots page falts


I am runing win 2k pro sp2 on an t bird with 768 mb of ddr ive go a swap file of around 2 gb split over a few disks and its and i run an epox 8hka+ witha via 266a or what ever it is
and i have a lot of page faults
I have tryed to take out one of my 256 stiks but this did not help i still get lots after about 2-3 days exploer.exe has produced around 200,000 faults!!!!

usuly when i get a crash and thats quite rare its says some thing like "explorer.exe has coursed an invalid page fault..."

I have just tryed to take out one of my ddr stiks but im still geting alot of faults i am now stuck and out of ideas
any help will be appreciated

First, reduce the size of your pagefile (swap file) to about 512MB or 768MB. Try to keep it on one disk and make sure it is not defragmented. Set the Minimum size the same as the Max size, this will keep the OS from changing the pagefile...

Second, a pagefault occors when the OS looks to ram to find the "Page" if it is not in ram a pagefault occors and the OS looks to the Swapfile.

A page fault is not a Fault per se, it just means that the information the the OS is looking for is not in ram.
