1090T voltage

Since this is my first post, i'd first like to thank all the users of this site...I've read a lot of useful stuff on here

That being said i have a question about the voltage on my 1090t

This is my first OC so i'm pretty much a noob although i know a thing or 2

This is my build:

1090t
Crosshair iv forumla
corsair a70
haf 932 case, stock cooling
1x 4gb patriot 1333 dram

I'm currently at 4.08ghz, ram at 1240 or so
multiplier: 17
bus: 240
cpu volt: 1.381
dram volt: 1.575

Right now i feel at this speed, my temperatures for me are good...overdrive and coretemp (which i know are both off) are reading 20C idle, during prime at full load it hits i think 38C (but i'vve only ran for 20min)...so to me even if they were off by 10-12C the temps are good

before i go any further, are my voltages too low?...would i be better off changing these settings all together and uping the multi instead of bus?(though the ram is clearly the weak link in my build)...i've read basically keep it as low as possible if it works, but i'm not sure...i see most people running at 1.44 and other numbers mostly higher

I used to get bsod when i just saw what would happen only changing multi and bus w/o voltage going past 4.0ghz....after this slight change it seems good but i need an opinion

Thanks in advance

Run either Prime95, OCCT, and/or Intel Burn Test. They are all free programs that test for stability. If your chip is stable at 4Ghz with 1.38V you have a "golden" chip.

Thats pretty much what i figured...temp wise, how long should i run prime to get a good idea...i see a lot of people doing overnight runs, others say 2hrs is fine....i think for me 2 hrs is fine but have only done 20min or so and i see 37C on core temp, im assuming the temp will continue to rise as prime runs longer?

Your temps sound off like mine but not to worry (mine show around 15C to low). When running Prime95 the temps will generally stabilize at the maximum before the end of the first test. The test should be run for at least a couple hours, the longer it can run without errors the more stable it is (up to a point of course). Intel Burn Test (or OCCT) is quicker, select maximum Ram, 15-20 tests and if it passes that it's probably worth ~12+ hours of Prime testing and will take far less time.

What software are you using to monitor temp? I"ve used overdrive & core temp which are both off, and have basically given up on finding software thats accurate, probably going to pick up a sensor when i have a little more cash......

thanks for the help too, going to run prime for a few hrs see what happens

The sensor is on the CPU itself (it can't be replaced or fixed, short of buying a new processor which may have the same uncalibrated diode). I use Coretemp and the offset feature (just add about 12C).

to OCF!

The only comment I have, since Psykoikonov has pretty much covered everything else, is that running that one stick of RAM will reduce your overall performance. It's not a big issue for overclocking (usually) but will effect any benchmarks or programs you run.
