Just because you are paranoid doesn't mean someone isn't watching you.

It's just too easy to get anyone's personal information from here. I wonder how many thieves, kidnappers, stalkers, molesters, etc. use facebook as their primary resource.

Yes, broken record OFN. Its OFN that facebook (see everything) is hackable. Sorry guys, Im a bit grumpy tonight and redundent threads telling me and likely everyone else that facebook was hacked is hackable or has had personal information stolen or is...ad nauseum... from its omniscient database made me grumble. I suppose I just should have stayed away and not replied if I didnt like it . Sorry.

Wow thats classy. I guess it should be a lesson to people to set their stuff as private, but then again if a company is out to do something unethical like copy people's profiles that likely wouldn't have stopped them given the Swiss Cheese state of Facebook's privacy.

Is viewing a private profile that easy?

Been off FB for about a year, never looked back. F'em.
Sometimes it pays to be paranoid security conscious.

@Tom: Most people don't configure their profile to disallow the basic info that the "dating" site uses: Profile picture, Age, Name and Location.

Oh okay, thanks. I don't use it much so I just disallowed as much as it would let me.

It's reassuring to know that these guys didn't get very far, at least.

The problem goes beyond people simply not configuring their profile correctly. It seems like at least once a month Facebook has a day of "oh yeah sorry guys we accidently had all your info public all day again, but don't worry we got it fixed, that is until next time we screw up"

And the other problem is that they change the security settings once a month or add new security settings and just default everyone to "share everything". So if you still have a facebook account it isn't like you can just lock it down once and be good to go -- you have to be ever vigilent about logging in instantly after they announce changes and re-locking down or locking down the new stuff. People that haven't logged in for months and think that somehow makes them safe ironicly are probably the most exposed.

All that being said I quit about a year ago because it was just getting to be too much work to be security concious.

So it's even worse than I remember it being. Glad to know I'm not missing out on anything, hehehe!
