So this hadn't occurred to me, but I just read a post where someone was using one newish/modern video card as their main video card, and then just had another older video card assigned for physx.

I have 2 GTX 460's in SLI right now, but there is room for a 3rd card... if I put it in, I could run my 2 main cards at x16, and this 3rd card at x1. Is the x1 link enough for physx?

I have a spare 8800 GTX I could throw in there... anyone know if there are any downsides to doing so? Will this work at a x1 link?

I remember reading a thread about this a few weeks back, but I couldn't locate it. Basically, adding a card, specifically for Physx, did not increase performance and actually hurt it in some games. So, purely performance wise, there does not seem to be a difference. I'm not sure if it enables extra features in the game, such as increased physics.

I would not run that card in a 1x slot, though. That is not enough bandwidth, I think.

hmm, I could run it at x8, but then my 2nd SLI card would also be running at x8...

I'll just not do this then, if it doesn't actually help anything :)

Thanks
