Upgrade Help

Hi All:

I’m looking to upgrade to the new Sandybridge. I’d like to get the new Intel i5-2500K CPU. A new Asus mobo, new ram, and a SSD. Then install Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.

My current set up is, see my signature info:

Is it worth it for me to do the upgrade to gain how much performance?

Would I just be better off installing a new SSD and Win 7 64bit to save cash and get some performance. Looking for suggestions and thoughts.

Thanks

Wait for Intel to fix the SATA port problems before thinking about upgrading. (Unless they have already)

you will see a massive performance boost from the old Conroe architecture to SB as you will experience true quad core computing. I would recommend that you upgrade, although a core 2 Quad will last a while.

if you would like to upgrade i would recommend a gigabyte mobo, as i have had much better experiences with that as i have had with asus. Yu should also look to upgrade the graphics card otherwise the gaming experience will barely change.

this is my recommended setup:
CPU: I7 2600K (extra 2Mb L3)
MoBo: GA-P67a-UD4
Gfx: GTX 560 Ti
RAM: Gskill RipJaws 1600 CL9 / Kingston HyperX 1600 CL9
SSD: OCZ Vertex 2

Anyone know the Intel status on the fix?
