Just a heads-up: we are planning to migrate bigadv from running on Core A3 to running on Core A5 very shortly. Core A5 utilizes the same codebase as A3, but pegged to specific version snapshots. We have 64-bit Linux, Win32, and 64-bit OS/X versions of the core in testing; the initial release will likely be Win32 & Linux.

The new core will require a client upgrade; A5 will require version 6.34 or later. The Linux and Win32 versions of the 6.34 client will be released to the public very shortly. If you are running bigadv work units, please upgrade your clients. That will ease the transition as we start turning Core A5 bigadv projects on and turning Core A3 bigadv projects off.

Thanks and happy folding!

I just got an A5 core on my dual quad server, with the client I just downloaded from the folding site (FAH6.34-win32-SMP.exe) Will post TPF when it gets through a few of them.

Can you do a drop in replacement, or does it need a full uninstall/reinstall?

Drop in.

Yes. Alittle higher up on the page.

Windows XP/2003/Vista/2008/7 SMP2 client console version
6.34 (32-bit or 64-bit)

They'll get there...

We're still doing a bit of cosmetic cleanup on the page, but the links should work.

Edit: More Info

The bigadv changeover will be relatively rapid; we highly encourage donors who wish to run bigadv to upgrade their clients to 6.34 or later within the first few days of public release. We do not normally perform rapid switchovers for public-release clients, but bigadv is more of a "power user" configuration. After the switchover, pre-6.34 clients set to bigadv will roll over to normal A3 work units (and thus won't be spinning their wheels idly). We also have a number of non-bigadv A3 projects ready for public release that cannot go public until bigadv migrates for technical reasons.

So much for taking my time......:sly:

They can be dropped into a working FAH installation; it's always safest to update between work units, although testers have successfully performed this update mid-work-unit.

I dropped in the new client mid-stream, so far so good. Im running my 465 too, and according to some times posted earlier, Im roughly produceing what a 2600k would do at 4.6-4.7ghz, while driveing my 465 at the same time, wich is also running the new client :) ill have to let it run while im at work to know for sure, as the machine would be folding without me useing it for other stuff :D

FYI.......Have successfully updated a few mid-work-unit. No problems to report.

Have updated most of my bigadv folders to client 6.34

Managed to catch a couple between work units. Obviously there was no problem there. The rest were done mid-work-unit, all but one without a hitch.

The one bigadv work unit i did loose was a P26XX, where as all the others were P6900 series.......

This is the one i lost. :rain:

Coincidence  If your rig is running a P26XX series w/u, you might wonna wait till it's done.

Just tossing the bone out there........

I'm a little confused I only see a 6.30 drop in client? Where is the 6.34 drop in client?
