Maximus IV and CPU Multiplier Help

Hey guys,

I just upgraded my system and could use some help. I have a 2600K on a Maximus IV and my CPU Multiplier is resetting 50seconds after loading into windows 7.

I've uninstalled Asus AI Suite II thinking that was trying to take over from the settings I set in the BIOS however it is still doing it.

Idle temp is 35c so there's no issue with cooling. Anyone have any ideas on what could be causing my clocks to reset once in Windows?

I use CPU-Z and watch my core speed go from 4.6 then 50 seconds latter it drops down to 1.6....

PLEASE HELP

load the processor, it will hop back up, you have speed step turned on.

Huh, its staying at 4.6 now...

I don't quite understand, why is it dropping my Core Speed down to half the processors rated speed when I have it overclocked? I ran Prime and it jumped up just like you said however now its staying up, does this mean I have to run Prime every time I reboot the PC?

no, when there's (sufficient) load on it it will stay at 4.6. I think what you've done is hit the X on prime and left it in the background (if you look at your cpu util this will be easy to tell)
