I got a big proplem!

Here is the scope, I just bulid a new computrer, and it keeps giving me illeagle erors and suff when I try to play a game, or some times when I am in a game and go to a setup screen and back to the game the game crashes, or when you try to open a saved game.

Here are the specs:
AMD athlon 1.1 ghz
60 gig samsung hd
512 Mb of genaric ram
32x cdrom
1.5" floppy
iwill kk266plus
aopen gefource 2 mx400

some notes, the prosecor is below posted speed the updated bios would fix that and I am to lazy and buzy at the moment to do that and do not really no the correct clock settings and all.
also I have tryed reinstalling it and it does not help.
the ram is a genaric type so could it be bad ram?

Sounds like either bad ram or the CPU is over heating. Try using 1 stick of ram at a time in the different slots to see if that cures your problem. I have had some problems with cheep ram in athlon systems. The older chipsets seemed to be more picky about ram. Also what is your CPU temperature. You probably have a sensor under your cpu so you can try Motherboard monitor 5 to read the temps. Once you get this all streightened out we can talk about overclocking!

It could be the ram. Try putting a stick of Crucial in there and see what happens. You may also want to reinstall windows. Doing that has fixed a lot of problems for me in the past.

sounds like overheating to me. Find you temps and post them here and we can help u from there

Also check the placement of the cards. Do not use shared slots with sound card or other major devices, ie TV Card SCSI Controller. I was having a hell of a time with blue screens on a old machine. I just pulled a couple of cards switched em around and it worked like a charm.

Sounds like a main component problem, but like they said most likely ram or CPU, where when your CPU must go under full load when playing games it crashes.

So check the temperatures and test the ram by swapping it.

Okay I just checked my temps at boot thru the bios because I don't have Mobo monitor, CPU temp 34C and Sys, 26C, thats at boot, is that high?

I only have one stick of ram so I am going to swap it with one from a different computer and try that.
