Limit recordset results in M$ SQL Server 2000

I was wondering how I can limit my results of my SQL statement in SQL Server 2k. I know MySQL has a standard statement for it but it doesn't work in SQL2k. I can't change DB servers so SQL 2K has to do it.

Can someone point this out to me plz?

I believe it's "SELECT TOP number FROM recordset WHERE cause". I'll look through some of my books and double check to make sure.
