So im sitting with phenom 9850, msi 785 gtm E45, 4gb ddr2 and a 460 SC.
I been looking to upgrade for a while but money has been a problem. Now with the money problem cleared out of the way I was looking to upgrade by the start of September before battlefield 3 and mw3 hit the market. I had my eyes on the 2500ks for a while, ever since it was released. But now I am at a crossroad, with bulldozer and ivybrigde being released in the up coming year or so. This upgrade will be lasting me a while since I am a student and I have no more money to spend in the next few years with paying back loans. I am planning to spend about $1000.

With a 2500k

Gonna be running sli in a nxzt M59 gaming case with 2 extra fans on top and front, it is gonna be really tight from my research.
Probably going to dish out another 150 for a full tower case.

Should I keep this upgrade or wait it out till bulldozer/ivybridge are released then see from there? Thank you for reading

Lose the board and the cooler go to a higher end card. Maybe a 6950 reference which can be unlocked to 6970. Go to something like a P67AUD3P in the 140 150 range. All you need cooler wise is a hyper 212 for 30 bucks. 2500s don't get hot. Also you can ditch the PSU and go to a CX600 to save a lot of cash there as well and come out even for much higher performance.

I already have a 460 ( that model) so I could sli a cheaper cooler/psu is a good idea. WOuld a 600 run sli 460? They will be overclocked about 880/2000/1760 1.25 volts each.

Well I'll stick with that psu, changed cooler to 212+. Should I get a new case? HAF 932? Or is the Nzxt M59 enough for sli cooling and space.

To be honest, I wouldn't hold your breath to be able to build a system with Ivy Bridge for $1000, I'd guess that their low-end is going to be 3-$400, as they are going to be there for the high-end enthusiast and for servers. Maybe SandyBridge-E[nthusiast] series.

Ok, just needa save up a lil more( probably a month or 2) and ill be upgrading. Last question should i pay the extra 30 bucks for a z68 chipset. I do not think I will be using ssd caching but quicksync is a maybe.
